Community Education at the Marlborough School, Woodstock
Our next day of Saturday workshops on 24th November is always our most popular with many people using it to prepare for Christmas. Our sewing, wet felting, beaded jewellery and herbal classes all focus on making festive gifts, and you can learn how to make an alternative Christmas dish using ravioli on Italian cookery.
A very personal present would be learning how to give a relaxing aromatherapy hand and arm massage, or a reflexology treatment: our experienced tutors will teach you how at these two classes.
Staying on the relaxation theme, come along to Aroma yoga: a 90 minute class enhanced with the application of aromatherapy oils, or practise your yoga headstands with Janice Hellens.
We also have drawing, African style drumming, archery for all the family, and iPad/iPhone for improvers.
We still have places on some of our weekly courses: singing, badminton, yoga, home herbal, and Zumba Gold. You pay a pro-rata rate if you join mid-way through the term.
Please check availability on our website or call the office for more information, or to book a place. We look forward to seeing you.

Thames Valley Alert: Community Messaging
Thames Valley Police are committed to involving the community in the policing of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes. We believe that by improving the flow of information between the community and its police we can all make a greater impact in the prevention and detection of crime and anti social behaviour.
Register now to Thames Valley Alert
You are invited to register now to become a registered recipient of messages of information, crime alerts or witness appeals local to the area in which you live or work by email, text or telephone.
There is now also a free smart-phone Alert app which provides the latest local policing news straight to your phone. The app can use GPS data to send you targeted messages according to your current geographical location and messaging preferences, sending you instant notifications to your mobile phone about specific information, warnings and advice relevant to that location.

The Oxfordshire Performers Club
A Performers Club has recently been set up for adult amateur musicians who are seeking opportunities to perform in a friendly and supportive environment.
The Oxfordshire Performers Club, which meets at various Oxfordshire locations every 6 weeks or so, is for players and singers, at any level and with any instrument, who want to gain experience and confidence at performing, without the pressures of a formal concert. Players perform to each other, friends and family, and can perform all or just part of a piece.
The Club welcomes learners who can try out their pieces at the Club before their examination. We also welcome experienced players who simply lack sufficient opportunities to perform. Some very experienced players try out pieces at the Club first, before performing them at a formal concert.
Come and join us, either as a performer or a listener. Our next concert dates are at 3pm on September 9 th , October 21 st and there will also be a date in November. More information, including about the venue, can be found on the website and the Facebook page, or email oxfordshireperformersclub@hotmail.com

Marlborough School community education update
Our new 2018-19 programme is now available! See the Marlborough School website for full course details of courses starting between September and July next year, with latest availability as places fill up. Brochures have been delivered to many local homes over summer. If you didn’t get one, please download a copy from the website or phone the office and we’ll send you one.
We offer daytime, evening and Saturday courses for adults during school term time, on a whole range of subjects including arts and crafts, exercise and wellbeing, languages, cookery or music.
Take Mondays for example: in the Autumn term we have yoga, badminton, drawing, autumn foraging and therapeutic herbs, Spanish at beginner and intermediate levels, Italian reading skills, and a new evening archery class. An activity makes a great start to the week and is an antidote to any Monday morning blues!
The office re-opens for phone bookings from Thursday 6 September and you can always enrol by email or post as well. We look forward to welcoming all our students – new and existing – to Marlborough School Community Education for the new term.
