Duns Tew Energy Park consultation feedback

Thanks to all who attended the Duns Tew Energy Park public consultation on the 5th April 2019. The feedback was generally positive with a lot of interest and support for the opportunity to have community ownership of the proposed solar park.

The importance of identifying a suitable construction access route was strongly communicated and is also of paramount importance to us. As highlighted, this is just the beginning of the consultation process with numerous additional consultation events being held over the coming months.

For those who were not able to attend the first consultation, we will be attending Open Farm Sunday at Hill Farm on 9th June 2019 where there will be further opportunity to discuss the proposal, understand more about community ownership and have a guided tour of the existing solar park.

If you would like further information regarding the community ownership proposal, please contact us using the contact form on www.aspeninfrastructure.co.uk/duns-tew

Spring Tidy-up – 23rd & 24th March

Spring is just around the corner, so it must be time for our annual tidy-up weekend.

We have had fantastic support on the last few times we have arranged the tidy up and hope that the support will continue. Thank you so much to those of you who have previously volunteered – you really have made a difference!

If you can spare the time, we’ll be meeting at the church lychgate at 09:30 on Saturday 23rd, to organise litter pickers and tidying of the grounds around the centre of the village. Bin bags, litter pickers, gloves and high Viz Jackets will be provided.

Please note, if you cannot join us to help tidy the public areas of the village, all we ask of you, should you be able to spare the time, is to make an extra effort to tidy the immediate area around your own residence.

Marlborough Community Education update

Marlborough School in Woodstock runs daytime, evening and Saturday courses for adults during term time, whether you are interested in arts and crafts, exercise and wellbeing, languages, cookery or music. We welcome people of many ages and backgrounds from across Oxfordshire.

Why not treat your mum to something different for Mother’s Day by bringing her to one of our Saturday workshops on 16 March. The day has a relaxation theme with classes including Indian head massage or back massage plus Restorative Yoga in the morning and Aroma Yoga with aromatherapy oils, in the afternoon. Our 90 minute archery taster also makes a fun whole family activity.

If you’re an artist, with some experience of painting or drawing in any medium, John Somerscales will help you develop your Picture Making Skills, considering things like composition, tonal range, colour and movement. Classic cookery, stained glass and sewing workshops are all full for March, but we do have places on 18 May.

The following weekly courses have space and you can join part-way through the term, paying pro-rata: Monday badminton, Thursday Zumba Gold, our Wednesday evening singing group, and yoga classes on Monday and Thursday mornings, and Monday evenings.

Our tutors are very friendly and look forward to welcoming you. Please check availability on our website or call the office to book.
