Croquet Competition update

Changing the date to mid-July seems to have worked, and all those who participated in the annual Duns Tew Croquet Match at Daisy Hill Farm House on Sunday17th July enjoyed a fun afternoon on a wonderful hot and sunny day.

Much Pimms and beer was drunk, delicious barbecue food enjoyed, and the croquet winners this year were Elaine Bower and Mike Clark, with Jo and David Barton as runners up.

The extraordinary Linda Green Croquet trophy is therefore shared for a year between Elaine and Mike.

Roll-on next year!

Police and crime commissioner survey

The Police and Crime Commissioner Anthony Stansfeld has launched a survey seeking feedback from residents of the Thames Valley on policing and crime. The results of the survey will help inform the next Police and Crime Plan which is due to be published in March 2017.

The survey will give the residents of your Parish the opportunity to feedback any concerns or issues about policing as well as what they think Thames Valley Police should be prioritising for the next five years with regards to crime and I am writing to ask whether you would be able to support us in publicising the survey to your community.

The survey is hosted on the Police and Crime Commissioner website www.thamesvalley-pcc.gov.uk/survey. It should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and is open until 30 September 2016. Anyone who is either living or working in the Thames Valley is eligible to complete it.

We would appreciate any support you can provide in distributing the survey such as an article in a Parish newsletter, sending it out through your own distribution lists, social media and websites. The survey also seeks the views from victims of crime with the aim of improving the victims experience.

Hard copies of the survey are also available on request by contacting the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner on 01865 846780.

I’ve provided some copy below on what the survey is about which you can use in any distribution as you see fit. If you have any questions, please contact me on the number below.

The Police and Crime Commissioner for the Thames Valley would like your views on policing and crime.

This Summer, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is seeking views from the residents of Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire on policing and crime. This feedback will help inform the Police and Crime Plan which sets the priorities for Thames Valley Police for the next 5 years.

What concerns you about policing in your area? What would you like Thames Valley Police to prioritise with regards to crime? Have you been a victim of crime and would like to feedback your experience?

To give your views, you can complete a short online survey at www.thamesvalley-pcc.gov.uk/survey. It should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and will be open until Friday 30th September 2016.

If you would like a copy of the survey posted to you, please contact the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner on 01865 846780

Park survey – results

The playground improvement process is ongoing, with the most recent meeting being held on Wed 18th May 2016 in the Village Hall.

As identified by surveys, canvassing opinion at school bus stops and the village plan, these changes are especially important to meet the needs of older children.

For more detail and for progress so far please refer to timeline and keep an eye out on website and newsletter for next set of draft plans.

Quarry activity commencing May 2016

I would like to advise the Parish Council that we will be starting our final sand extraction campaign from the Western Quarry later this month-May 2016.

As on previous occasions this will involve the transport of sand in dump trucks from the Western Quarry across the Duns Tew road and in to the Eastern Quarry. The crossing of the Duns Tew Road will again be managed by traffic lights of the sort that have proved to be successful on previous occasions and which give priority to road users.

Once again we hope that there won’t be any problems for the residents of the village but any housekeeping concerns about the operation should be made direct to the Quarry Manager in charge who is John Stocker on 07860 894764 or to our production manager John Bell 07718 660239

As the Parish Council are aware this will be the last extraction campaign and following extraction we will be restoring the quarry to its approved use for nature conservation with public access.

Kind regards
